Is Microsoft POS right for me?
Hi All. I own a small cigar shop that has a very antiquated POS system. A friend who runs a POS sales and support company has started us down the road of upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics POS 2.0. We purchased a HP hardware bundle with touchscreen, new computer/HD, Bar Code Scanner, receipt printer and credit card swiper. But after some training and major hassles on the install I am wondering if this is the right software for us.
We are a simple shop. We sell about 1200 products...mostly cigars and accessories. 90% of our product is bar coded. We only have 1 register and we desire one terminal in the back office to do our accounting and reports. We currently use Quickbooks for accounting but are open to change. As far as the register functionality we ned to ring up simple sales with the option of assigning any particular sale with a specific customer. We take inventory ny hand and reconcile it into the system. We have a few dozen vendors that we receive shipments from and enter the product into inventory. That's about it.
Does anyone run a similarly simple shop and have some input on what we should be using for Point of Sale software? Are there any forums you know of dedicated to this topic? Thanks in advance.
