I use Joomla extensively but you're running an ecommerce site. Joomla has an ecommerce component called VirtuMart. I have nothing negative to say about Joomla if it's used as a cms site although some feel it has security issues. VirtuMart has its drawbacks. For me the product and pricing structures were not as easy to configure as some. If you have a lot of products and options, you might install it in a sub-directory and play with it before making your decision.
Thanks for the answer. What type of security issues has there been?
Like most php sites, permissions for some directories have to be set to 777. This is always a problem which can be resolved with your .htaccess file. Personally I have had few security issues with Joomla.
I use Joomla with Virtuemart as well. I have been fortunate so far with security, but I've also taken a lot of steps to protect the site. The main site is USA Sports Training.
Take a look at the Virtuemart website and forums before investing the time and energy.
There are some concerns, especially with respect to ongoing support. The community is small and the developers seem to be overwhelmed with answering questions.
On the other hand, it's a great script. Joomla is very well supported and its modular design make it much easier to work with than say osCommerce, in my opinion.
