We have recently relaunched our website to include an online shop. We are consistantly attracting over 200 unique visitors to the site per day and our prices are among the best in the country. We are getting more website enquiries than ever on the bulk side. So why are we not selling more units on the retail website? I have been involved a lot in the development of the website - any fresh opinion on the site would be great. The domain name is; www.expresspendrives.co.uk Thanks.

Your site looks good. A couple of things you might want to consider to help boost conversion rates:
The average shopper who is looking for a drive is very different from a b2b shopper who is looking for 100 drives with company branding to hand out at a tradeshow. The average shopper needs a little more merchandising and pictures. A b2b shopper is just looking for a quality product and volume pricing. I would suggest you put pictures onto this page: http://www.expresspendrives.co.uk/buyonline.asp?custID=2672004512519633556&shopper=n . Next to each drive size, just put a stock picture. The other thing you could also include is a little more information about the product. Again, the average shopper needs more info like
1. How much info can the 32mb hold?
2. If I'm a student who writes papers, should i get the 32mb or the 64mb?
3. Why are your drives better?
4. Maybe a little paragraph telling me.

OnlineShopper is absolutely correct. You need more images at your website, index page included. I just went to Google and sought sites with the keyword phrases "pen drive" and "pendrive". All of the relevant sites in the top ten listings did a wonderful job of graphically displaying the pen drive and it functioning. Yes, more graphics and less text on your index page. Leave that work to other pages where details are noted. Even then, you want graphics on the spec pages.

I am an American and was wondering how much do your memory sticks cost in US dollars? I tried to find out through your web site's shopping cart and I got as far as selecting shipping and never found out the US $ price. May this be your problem? How many of your visitors are american and who are like me, ignorant to the conversion rate?
I think that maybe the easiest thing to try from a starting point is to post the US dollar price initially next to the product.
Also, did you study your server logs to find out at what point your visitors are leaving your web site? There may be your answer in your server log files..how far in the shopping cart do they go?..How deep into the catalog do they go? Do they ever get to the catalog?
Additionally, try flip-flopping your bulk-side & Online shopping side- ei..#1 Online Shop & #2 Bulk and Trade Orders. Maybe trade colors for the headers #1 Online Shop-blue, #2 Bulk and Trade Orders-Red.
Personally, I do not have any problems with your shopping cart finding the product,Finding the information(needs to offer more on each product instead of one page). The basic design and layout is very simple to follow, and I never used my back arrow.
All the suggestions are very good and insightfull. But since I am "lazy", I lke to do the little things first then move to the bigger and after I see what the effects will be, and if there is no effect, go into the bigger and more expensive solutions. So maybe just put U.S prices on your product listings and go from there? It's a rather easy fix- a couple lines of conditional statements in your shopping cart code-another column on your database and its done.

I cant get into the consumer side shop and the front page took a long time to load. I am on cable and it took ridiculously long which doesnt have to do with poor optimization. From my experience I would take a shot in the dark that your host may ****. If a person with a dialup came in and had the same problem as me they would surely leave. In the time it took to load I could have opened google, searched, and starting shopping another pendrive site.
Your website is a perfect example of a Direct Product Sales website. The only thing I noticed is that in what is likely a competitive market, you have not given the visitor a way to easily get back to your website if they decide to "shop around"
If you are priced competitively and are not being undercut too drastically by other suppliers of the same item, then it would certainly not hurt to add right under your contact information one of those cute little "Bookmark this Page" links.
If you do have competition that is selling these items for less then you do, you may need to add some value to the item. Maybe by capitalizing on your capacity to personalize the pendrives.
