Web design company search

I need to find a reputable web design company to build my new web site. Can anyone recommend?

There are a huge selection of companies that provide web design. Everything from small 1-2 staff shops to larger design firms that also provide Internet hosting. the little guys are not always the cheapest, but they are more flexible. many of the big design companies want to complete a "study" before they begin on your tab, of course.

I have a couple of suggestions:

1. Work with a local designer -easier to communicate and share ideas. If you have other business partners, ask them who developed their site, find a few site you like and contact them to get the name of their designer, or use a search engine (not the best method).

2. Be realistic - creating a usefull business site is not for your fresh-out-of-school kid. It requires an understanding of business so choose someone with experience in business as well as in web development.

3. Don't waste your time on a "brochure site" - the days of posting a brochure and waiting for leads is gone. Sites need to be a little interactive and fresh content is vital. Like any other form of marketing, you need to taylor your message to your prospect, and that requires some advanced program understanding in something like Coldfusion or .NET to really work.

4. Start Small and Build - Until you feel "comfortable" with the Internet you will not have a good plan to fill your objectives. Don't try to do it all in one shot. Start off with small projects and build onto your site over time. Unlike print media, changes are easy and instant. 5. Measure your success. If you provide "contact us" pages, be sure to track the requests so you understand where the leads are coming from and help undestand if the Internet is effective.

I agree with Bill, go local.

Ask your local chamber of commerce or a small business that you know of for suggestions if you don't know of anyone.

As a small business, you are no doubt anxious to get up and running, but unless you have spent a great deal of time researching how you want your site to work, take your time and get it right before you start putting money into the promotion of the site.

This is a 5 page questionnaire we adapted to our design process to assist businesses in determining the requirements for their site. Some of it may not apply to you initially, but in general, I like to work with people who have at least considered the majority of the questions so that there is less confusion about the project.

Anna, I don't think your site looks so bad.

I suggest going to a forum like sitepoint.com and posting a contest up.
people will design a site for you and you choose the best design.

You might check out Equentity

With ur budget you may want to try rentacoder.com or elance.com such sites where you can hire developers/designers and get the job done.

I guess I should say that my post was to the orginal poster, who did not seem to have a low budget
