Critique for an IT Donkey...

Hi,

I would appreciate both pos and neg constructive criticism of my site - which is just less than 4 months old....

I will lay down my main excuse beforehand -

I admit to being an IT Donkey, didnt know what HTML meant until 4 months ago........still dont......lol....

Anyway, I am trying to learn as I go along.......but do think I need some pointers to move the site on to the next level, as it were........with very limited IT skills of course.....

It's a good start. Some quick comments on it graphically...

- get rid of the java applet, it slows down the loading of the page a lot. If you have to have a scrolling marquee you can make this with html or javascript.

- your tabs do not reflect the different pages that I am on. If I click on the 'about us' page I want the graphical tab to be on that title.

- your graphics are good, a few of them need to be brushed up some though. Try to make all the graphics that make up the page design (like the puzzle pieces) as sharp as you make them. When those graphics are fuzzy it really hurts the professional feel of the page. Some of the images of the people are a bit dark. Either get new images or use a program like photoshop to lighten them up.

- I like most of the header (the top of the page). Did you create the graphic of the money globe? The added lens’s flares can go (they are not needed and will increase the images file size). The height size should be shortened by about half. Try to have the titles worked into the graphics. It does not look very professional to have them on white blocks.

Some solid , sound advice for me there - thanks....the problem for me is that I really dont much about this kind of thing.....and am literally feeling my way through it.....technically I mean.......

The header and indeed the template was one of the free ones that my host provides....I just fiddled about with it to suit me...but...as is clear - I fall short on quite a few things.........I will have to read up on how to implement some of your suggestions....
