Spamming through SEO
I'm not sure if this post belongs here or in the Executive Lounge because I am furious.
Some website (which will remain anonymous) linked to me and drove a substantial amount of clicks a few days ago. I found the page linking to me and it was their sales pitch page trying to encourage me to advertise on their site. They intentionally sent a whole bunch of traffic from this webpage, knowing that I (a curious minded SEO lover) would find the linked page and view their sales pitch.
Sure, its clever and I give kudos to that. But now, all analytics for the site are thrown way off. Any SEO programs and efforts done will be inaccurate unless I go through the tedious task of constantly deleting those numbers when doing an analysis. Nothing I hate more than murky data.
I just needed to vent. Anyone else experience anything like this?

Can't you just block the IP or source or something so that those visits are not counted?

That would work if it was continuous. Unfortunately, it was a one day mass spam incident. So, that one single day has thrown a mighty big/tedious wrench in my reporting.

I had a client who had an infringement of copyright issue with another web site. I simply sent an email to the web master an extract is below:
It has come to our attention that your blog references The Cure For Jet Lag and in those references you have used the words Jet Lag and have linked those terms back to your own site. This is an infringement of copyright and the publisher of the book is poised to pursue legal action against you.
We are taking this opportunity to offer you the chance to either remove the links or remove the entire copy referencing The Cure For Jet Lag.
If you remove the infringements within 48 hours no further action will be taken. If however you choose to ignore this request your site will face the consequences.
If you choose to comply please let me know by return e-mail.
The web master complied within 24 hours.

But how any registered person can make blog any other spammer.

What was done to stop their actions? Did you write to them or filter the IP?
