I'd be really grateful if you could check out my website at www.straygoat.com and provie some feedback. Do you find it easy to use? Was the content suitable? Are you familiar with what I can provide and what benefits that offers?

    Thanks!

I think you're out there on a ledge.

    Is this a serious effort?

I know that goats like to be out there on a ledge, but people who put up cash for a service generally don't like to be.

Hi, You need to have a re-think about the copy that you have used. You have said that you would be able to provide clients with copy that sells their product. Sorry to say this, but you need to do the same for your own site first! The text poses a number of questions about your professionalism. I would not promote this site until it is improved. Sorry to be so blunt. All the best for the futiure.

I think you need to lay off the 'cheese'....ie 'been a writer my entire working life and know no different, it's my life etc' 'blowing my own trumpet' etc and stick to confidently detailing what you do, have done and can do for ME, the client. Please leave out 'i have a BA in blah blah' on the opening pages. It's just a bit amaterish. Your work and copy should do all the talking for you.

In all honesty, for me, the main problem is i have this nagging feeling you are selling yourself as a guru of creative copywriting and graphic design to rival some of the top London agencies, when i get the impression you are a provincial, mostly technical, copywriter with a portfolio to match. I would never EVER include work you've done 'for yourself' (ie stray goat) as an example. It's stating the obvious and shows you lack other work. And that black portfolio pic is just sooooo 'clip art'. Take it out immediately!

That leads me onto the next 'irk' - you are not a graphic designer. Your site is OK, but certainly does not show you have fantastic graphics skills - i would say it is more of the cut and keep web host template variety done in those vile 'business' colours of maroon and navy...no real imagination, though competently done.

And your photo - looks as though you've been snapped on the way in to a very boring seminar. You look shifty and unhappy, with shadow behind you. You need a better, more professional picture on white background which engages the viewer with a confident and happy (NOT cheesy!) 'trust me, i'm a copywriter' not, d'ya wanna buy a timeshare?

Sorry, but this has been harsh but i've tried to at least be constructive unlike the others...just think you need to be more 'professional' in your approach, tone and look. It's fine to be a little 'chatty' but it all just smacks a bit of David Brent at the moment.

    Agreed.

The copy doesnt sell on your site. I keep looking at the large goat pics.

Dont leave the menu at the bottom...put it at the top and bottom OR just leave the menu on the right side on the main page.

    The site loads slow.

    About Us Page
"I enrolled on the Institute of Copywriters' diploma course (which is quite similar to my degree,to be honest), set up StrayGoat Copywriting, and entered the world of the freelance copywriter."

Is that a good course? Copywriters' might know it, but it doesnt sell on its own to most people...IMHO.

Also....I just didnt think the About Us did much to detail more about you or even WHY you.

"Now I dare say that you have another unanswered question: why StrayGoat? Well, the name StrayGoat has a special meaning for me, and it's a secret. So there."
    Yes...I did have that question.

Your site does not give the entire details that a User will look for plus the appearance is not good you need to work on some graphics also so that your website can catch the eyes of the user. You can use flash and some gif files to make ur website look better.

    A bit wordy. . .

I know you're in the business of professionally composing 'words' but your site was wordy and I lost interest. I noticed in order for someone to contact you they must click an email link at the bottom of your site rather than an easy-to-find contact button or online form. The scrolling boxes could be replaced by YouTube video samples of your work. Good luck!

Overall I think the design of the site is not bad.

However, I don't particularly like the color scheme.
Red and black together evoke emotions of "untrustworthy-ness".

The header block looks a bit cut price too.
I'd find a designer to recreate that section using smarter
    looking fonts.

You should get more social media icons up the top of the page too.

There are other sites around that you can submit to if
you want more feedback and ratings by website professionals.
