Am I getting value of riped-off?
I have spent $4,600 on an eCommerce site over 6 weeks and it is still not up yet. I sell one product in multiples. The front end is simply informational with no jazz yet, just simple pictures. The CMS is Joomla, the cart is VirtueCart, I accept PayPal and CC or phone orders via Virtual Terminal. I think this is a rip, but without experience, I don't know. I need integration into QuickBooks for accounting and some Press Releases.
Can anyone tell me how much and how long this should take? It seems like it is going on fore ever and the developer says he has spent in excess of 310 hours so far.
By the way, I am selling an astounding product that kills all pathogens in and out of the human body and produces remarkable healing very quickly. I also am asking for help to bring this product to market quickly because it eliminates most suffering in people and animals and it is very inexpensive. Some MD's suggest it is a direct replacement to antibiotics.
Thanks to everyone in advance; I really do need help with this.

OK - $4,600 is outrageous. You can do a simple site yourself. Get an all-in-one shopping cart solution like Volusion up and running withing a month for under $150 with the monthly fee (since you have 1 product) under $50 a month, not including merchant fees. That includes the hosting and support. Or you can use a free shopping cart software and find your own host. Either way, unless this site gets up and dances off the computer I can't see it being worth what you've paid or how many hours your "developer" say he h as put in.

that comes out to about 14$ an hour so it depends on how the company is billing you.
but yes, that is alot!!
i make many of my clients sites from joomla just so they can keep the costs down.
ijust did a totally custom joomla site for a jet charter and it cost half as much to make
i also use cs-cart, thats only 199 and you can do that yourself too,
i only pay about 8 per month for my hosting too.

I charge $600.00 to $1200.00 depending on content, graphics, etc. I think $4600.00 is a lot and should be completed within 2 weeks or less.

Depends on the solution provider, there are companies which charge more then 4600

This type of thing is really going to depend on your solution and what kind features you've requested. I've seen websites go for much more and much less. It's also one thing to describe what you need here on the forums and it's totally different to have a contract that specifies all required items. Your project proposal should have specified how long and the estimated cost of each item developed. If you feel that the project is going over budget or over the specified time line you should talk directly to your developer. Did you get several different proposals from different developers or did you just choose one?
