Looking for member mgmt software

Hello there,

My business partners and I are looking into starting a business that would be membership-based. Our business plan includes that it would become a nation-wide organization. We are seeking a membership management software package robust enough to handle -- or be customized to handle our vision of how it could work.

Amongst other things we would like each member to be able to have their own (single) web page they could customize -- but that could only be viewed by members of the organization (not the 'outside' public). It should be able to handle subscriptions (thus, secure credit card processing), web store/shopping cart, discussion forums, calendering, password sharing detection/prevention, site-searching, provide various activity reports, etc. etc. etc.

We looked at Membergate (for a good example of what we're seeking) and thought that might be our solution; but after several emailed correspondences with the developer, find it can not handle such (an unlimited) number of "content publishers" (with member having their own web page) nor seem to be interface-able with other software that might handle such activity.

Do you have knowledge of -- experience with a membership management software package that we might consider? We are not interested in (at present, anyhow) starting from the ground up to develop the package -- but if there is something that can be satisfactorily customized or perhaps would even work "off the shelf" for us, that'd be terrific!

We would certainly appreciate it if you have positive recommendations you might offer to us! Hoping to hear from you,

A few ideas

I don't know for certain if it has ALL that you're looking for but have you looked at memberclicks.com ? I have one client using that and it has been a while since I explored every corner but essentially it is a web based service for membership organizations. Might be worth a peek. And if that doesn't do it, make sure you visit TechSoup.com - it's a resource center for membership organization technology and software. They'll tell you if what you want even exists.

Good luck.
