One domain name, multiple hosting services?

here's my situation. I've registered a domain name and I have a hosting service. It's a cheap hosting service, and I think I've outgrown it sooner than I ever expected to. I don't have a lot of traffic to my sites yet but the availability is getting to be lousy. Sometimes the server just doesn't repond. Not even a "bandwidth limit exceeded." All I get is "no response from server".

I want to move to another hosting provider. But I don't want to it all at once. I've got a number of services, each with its own subdomain name. I want to be able to move subdomains to a different hosting service, one subdomain at a time. That way I can manage the risks and get some strategic flexibility. But the DNS points to my current hosting service and I can't find any way to make them let me do this.

How do I handle this? Do I need another DNS resolving service? What? Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Check this site http://opensolution-us.com/ecommerce and http://opensolution-us.com . They seem to have a solution.
