Crossing the 50 employee threshold

During the next year, we will cross the 50 employee threshold. What are the recommendations for staying with manual tracking of my employees HR information as opposed to moving to a true HR package of some kind, based on the costs of HR software? At only 50 emps, is it worth it? I'm not there yet, but its coming soon...

HR services

It seems to me that a growing company likes yours could benefit from an HR package. Having insurance, vacation, company policy and other info automated is a huge time saver. Plus, most packages integrate with payroll services such as ADP and a bunch of recruiting services.
To help keep costs down, you may want to look at a Web-based HR application. You'd get all the HR features of applications used by the largest companies (and with 50 employees I'm sure you are running up against more and more of those issues all the time) but you don't need to make the capital investment in hardware and network infrastructure.
Employease http://www.employease.com/ and Ultimate Software http://www.ultimatesoftware.com/ are two of the better ones I'm familiar with. I think they both offer online demos.

There are many reasonable smaller packages out there that will allow for tracking of HR information IE:

Benefits
Birthday
Start Day
Reviews
Training
warnings
special situations
emergancy contact info
TO tasks listed on the review
Completed tasks from previous review
Sick Days Taken
Holidays Taken
Vacation Days Taken
Resume
Home Address and Tel
Home Email
the list goes on

Human Resources Software

Please check out the human resources software on my web site. It is currently being converted to be web enabled, but can meet any requirements.
