Best Payment options for Ecommerce Shop?

I am looking for a payment solution for my e-commerce shop. I am interested in a gateway / merchant account combo.

I have heard of Total Merchant Services.

    I really need some recommendations.

This part has been very confusing. This fee, that fee, set up, etc.

    Thanks!

I use Authorize.Net. I have been using it for 2 years and never had an issue and I am very happy with it. It depends on whether your cart supports it but most do. You have to buy through a third party and I used eonlinedata. Also very happy with them.

You could try CrystalPayments, they are good and reliable cc payment processor.

This can be very confusing when you are setting this up on your own. I have been setting up merchant accounts for small businesses for years now. This is the form that will get you started.

What you're really interested in is saving money in the long run, right? So I wouldn't make a combo a 'must'.

There is not enough information to give you any specific vendor advice so I'll give you these tips:
    1. Make sure your agreement does not bind you to any specific term. As a new online business, any merchant processor will be charging you a higher rate than if you were already in business for years accepting credit cards. If your business takes off, you don't want to be stuck with those rates.
    2. Request the full contract details in advance of filling in any online form.
Carefully review what is required to get the different rates- there is NEVER one rate for all transactions, UNLESS, and it's rare, they are charging you at least 3.5%. Why? Because the actual cost of interchange varies, with the highest currently over 3% right now. So no one could promise you 2.25% on all transactions or they'd lose money.
    3. Read the forums for your ecommerce cart. You'll find lots of information from other users experience and if they had any troubles.

As to gateway, I've recommended authorize.net for many years. You can't go wrong with them. Alternatively, use whatever your shopping cart host offers, if they have a package deal.

I actually wrote an article with a reference to top 10 credit card processors this week. I think you'll find some useful information in my 3D merchant services blog.
    Good luck!
