registration and license requirements for website business
Hello, I just wanted to clarify a couple things. Some people tell me I don't need to get a license or register a business name for this, but others tell me I do.
If I create a website (i won't be selling any tangible goods/services) and make revenue from it based on advertisement or some type of listing service on the site, am I required to get a local license and register my business with the gov't.
If the answer is yes, then what happens when I create many more websites with different domain names targeting different markets/industries but get the same type of revenue stream from these sites. Would I have to get a local license for each of my websites, along with registering each business/domain name with the gov't too? That would be a hassle and costly I would think.
Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

We are not lawyers or tax consultants and you should definitely consult one. My understanding is that income over a certain amount must be reported. I would venture a guess that you could start a business and have many sub-businesses under it. My vitamin site is under my main computer business and all income is deposited into it as is income from my SEO business. So, it would not be necessary for me to have 3 licenses.

It also depends on where you are, and where you register your business, if you register at all.
Some countries probably have little or no restriction. Others, like the US, have federal requirements for IRS/tax purposes, but leave most of the rest of the regulation to the individaul states.
The best place to start is with your local jurisdiction. Find out what is required to be a legal business where you live and where you plan to do business if different from where you live.
Consult a professional.
