Merchant Accounts? Is CardAccept the way to go?
Hello Everyone,
It is a pleasure to be here, and so exciting to have the opportunity to receive your input and guidance! I am in the process of exploring all the options I have in order to receive credit card payments at my in home shows. I'm quite honestly, a little afraid and discouraged, since I let my credit fall these last few months!
Would getting a co signer be my last resort? and difficult to do? Please pray for me everyone!
So far, I've talked to Card Accept, who was referred to me by BuyerZone. Has anyone done business with them? They quoted $52.00 a month for wireless if I didn't make sale, and $33.00 a month for Web terminal.
This is all just a bump in the road. ANy input, or words of encouragement would really help!
Destined for Successs! Be blessed everyone! I will never give up!

more important then the monthly fees is the "Discount" Rate and the per transaction charge. this will dramatically affect your bottom line. In addition to the discount rate and the transaction charge you will need to verify that there are no additional "gateway" fees. As most ecommerce solutions will require a merchant account as well as an ecommerce gateway.

Depending on the country you are in, you can a few different options. If you were looking at CardAccept, I think they only support US merchants since they are Pipeline Data (this is the merchant account provider). Being in the United States, you have probably 100 electronic payment gateways to choose from and thousands of merchant account providers as well.
If you are doing less than $30,000 a month and not opening an adult / gaming / or any other high risk, you should have no problem getting a merchant account

Talking about payment options have you heard about the latest one? Its called OneTouch Online Purchasing™.This is a revolutionary patent pending online payment processing service for digital downloads.
With OneTouch Online Purchasing™ people can purchase any digital content (such as music, ring tones, games, video clips, wallpapers), from anywhere on the web, via their computer or their mobile handset, and charge it to an existing account at their phone company, mobile operator, bank or Internet service provider of their choice. OneTouch Online Purchasing™ eliminates the danger of credit-card- like identity theft.
At the moment they are active in Spain and in the UK. *snip*

I am using accept by phone, They have a higher discount rate, and a $5.00 a month charge. Only drawback is i have to call my customer for credit card and then call credit card company. I sell frozen perishable products and need to contact them anyway.

I have had 3 merchant accounts and have looked at many more...I have yet to see anyone who is not charging a gateway fee.

It comes down to terms. For example, LinkPoint / YourPay usually charges a flat monthly fee with no other transaction fees. Yahoo charges between .75% - 1.5% with a monthly fee. Some Authorize.net resellers can offer 250 free transactions through that gateway. And Payflow will give you 500 - 1,000 free transactions depending on the version you get. Some gateways will charge a percent
The transaction fee usually comes from the merchant account provider (as well as a discount fee).
