Need advice
Hi,I'm new in Ecommerce so I hope you guys can help me.What is the best way to sell a low-price internet service? From what I`ve researched I'll loose a lot of money if I use PayPal and 2CheckOut.But because of their rates and the low-price of the virtual product I'll loose a lot of money. The product has to be accessible from countries all over the world wich will be a problem for bank trasfers. Our rivals have problems with payment from US etc.
Sorry for my ignorance in Ecommerce and thanks in advance.

Hi there,
You basically have 2 options. Use a payment processor like paypal, or get your own merchant account.
A merchant account will be cheaper in the long run, but will cost you more to set up and will include monthly fees which you have to pay regardless of whether or not you have any customers. You also have to deal with chargebacks, etc yourself, which may or may not be a problem for your market.
The fact that international transactions are important to you means you'll need to look for a bank/payment gateway that support this. (Sorry, I don't know any offhand)
Hope that helps.

PayPal is not a bad option though. I see the web moving further in this direction in the coming years. As someone who has twice been the intended victim of attempted card fraud, I can tell you that I certainly am much more inclined to buy from a site that offers PayPal as a payment option. In fact, I won't buy from any but the largest and most reputable sites using a credit card.

A merchant account does not have to cost you any money up front - true, most do but not all of them - pm me if you want to know who I used with no up front fees at all and their gateway fee was half of what authorize.net charges.
Generally speaking, a merchant account isn't that much cheaper than paypal or 2CO - but what I suggst you do if you can is to sell your service quarterly or semi-annually or annually - that way, the payment will be more and you'll see more profit - having to use a non-cash system for low cost items is a killer - no way around it unless you want to accept checks.

Thank you.So I have more questions now.
Problems about merchant account -
I live in Bulgaria(thats a Balkan state).Although we are part of the European Union we still dont have credit cards integrated into our banking system. So this means a bulgarian bank process credit cards from around the world. Is there a way to open a merchant account from distance in a bank that can process credit cards from around the wrold?
Problems about payment processor -
So they take 2% to 5 % plus 30 to 50 USD cents. But this means we cannot sell service for a period of 1 month(wich will cost around 1.50$).This is totaly unaccepatable from maganer's point of view.BUT they can process credit cards from around the world and I won't loose clients.I've read good thigns about CCnow.com If we choose to integrate them into our site we'll have to sell the service for period of 6 and 12 months...By the way they support PayPal.Does anyone know if I can negotiate with them for chainging prices.Removing the 50 cents fee and setting a higher higher percent.
Here is some other info so you can help me.We have a big budget so buying software won't be a problem.Paying taxes of the merchant account won't be a problem too. Most of our customers will be from USA and European Union.
Thank you very mych again.

If your product or service is low cost, then yes, that's exactly what you have to do: sell in quarterly or semi-annual or even annual payment prices.

Hi,
you might not be aware of this because it has just launched, but there is a new Payment Processing Solutions, called OneTouch Online Purchasing™ .This is a revolutionary patent pending online payment processing service for digital downloads. And it is
With OneTouch Online Purchasing™ people can purchase any digital content (such as music, ring tones, games, video clips, wallpapers), from anywhere on the web, via their computer or their mobile handset, and charge it to an existing account at their phone company, mobile operator, bank or Internet service provider of their choice. OneTouch Online Purchasing™ eliminates the danger of credit-card- like identity theft.
OneTouch is a very user friendly system that requires very little configuration, so it is ideal for merchants of all sizes, can be set up on their website in a matter of hours and appears simply as an additional payment option on it. The advantage of using this application is the no chargeback fees and the higher revenue share you can gain from it-up to 77% of the sale price! I would suggest going to the website-http://www.onetouchpurchasing.com to read more about this new payment processing service.
