Looking for the right solution

We would like to offer free downloads of some of our materials but we would like to be able to do the following:

1. Gather contact information.
2. Email a message to them within a few days, automatically, as a follow up
3. Automatically email an evaluation in a few weeks

Does anyone know which Shopping cart would let us do this or is there another way?

Not sure about which shopping carts, but several e-mail marketing programs will do all that. AWeber comes to mind. http://www.aweber.com/

I use Constant Contact and have been very pleased. You can place a box on your website asking them to fill in their email address to receive a newsletter or a free gift, whatever you wish. You can send out emails as you make them, make one and set it up to be sent at a certain time and date and so on. Just remember, they must opt in, double opt in is even better. if they don't and you start to email them you can get fined big time.

Thanks everyone for the responses... unfortunately those ideas won't work for what we want to do. I think I found a way to do this using our existing catalog - ZenCart - and some modules for automatic email scheduling.

Check out Prestashop. I have used that before and it's great and easy to use. OS Commerce was a nightmare to modify! Avoid!
