    Marketing to a Teen Audience

    Hey there
I have recently started a company called "pimp my ipod" (http://www.pimp-my-ipod.com selling vinyl "stickers" for the iPod nano.
On the site you will find photos which can better explain the product than I can here!

Basically, it is a fairly new site and I have done no 'real' marketing on it as I have been testing out the product in my local area first. From this I have found that once people know about it, most people are keen on purchasing one.

I have no online sales as of yet - however next week I am getting an advertisement placed on http://www.thestudentzone.com as well as a review, and I have hired someone to write some articles and generally 'get the word out there'.

I am considering using payperpost.com to get some people blogging about it amongst a few other methods revolving around social networking sites such as myspace and digg. Before I invest any more money or time, I would like to know which are the most effective, and if there are any more which I have not considered.

I want to reach customers in the student market, and also people who may be interested in wholesaling and obviously get them to buy the products - i would appreciate ANY advice you guys can give me on marketing.

I have a limited budget of around $1000, at least until I get some sales in.

For your convenience please find a Google Analytics report attached: http://pimp-my-ipod.com/Resources/Analytics.pdf (please ignore goal conversions, they have only recently started working)

    Thanks in advance
    James

There was an article posted on Ecommerce-Guide.com recently which you may find useful in your quest for marketing ideas for teens. Hopefully other forum members will be able to provide some advice based on experience as well.

If I were you, I would set up a group on the social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook) and add as many teens as you can find.

Also, try setting up a link exchange with one of the MySpace layout sites. Teens frequently visit those and could pay off for you as well as them.

Nice site! You might want to consider setting up a social network so that people who pimp their ipod can create their own pimp my ipod profile, show off their ipods but uploading pictures and videos etc. I would recommend creating your own social network, in addition to setting up a group on MySpace and Facebook - link that group to your pimp my ipod community. Check out in2community for how to set you pimp my ipod community up.
