Keywords in image alt tags can provide good results. Don't stuff. Make it natural.

Yes, you can place keywords in the alt tag just don't stuff it. Stuffing the alt tag with your keywords might do you more harm than good.

Think simply, friend. You should put keyword in Alt. use any SEO tools to check how many pictures in your site still missing Alt tags.

To be web compliant, images must technically have a description for the blind to read (via braille). The alt tag or even the title tag will help with that. It's about being WC3 compliant.
It's the Powerbook 5300 fiasco all over again- another product that doesn't work properly!

The idea to use ALT attribute is to improve web accessibility, not for really SEO purpose. Search engine treat ALT as replacement of anchor text, those who abuse ALT tag could be hit by penguin algorithm.

You can do it as if you are putting meta tags to a webpage. You can include your keyword in the title and description. No need to make it more compelling since it will not be seen by users. It only applies for Search engine spiders.

Alt tags are sometimnes seen by users. For instance, the alt tag for an image is displayed when, for whatever reason, the image itself is not displayed. Image alt tags can also be coded to appear on-screen when one mouses over the image. This is useful for captioning, etc., as well as SEO.

Describe the contents of an image file using alt tags, majorly for visitors using browsers that cannot display images, or have image display disabled, visually impaired visitors and those visitors who use screen readers.

Search engines use the information that alt text provides to determine the best image to return for a search query. This is a great way to bring new visitors to your site and it helps to increase your rankings with the search engines.

Thus, alt attributes are a great place to utilize your keywords and help increase your chances of showing up in image searches.
