I'm looking for some input about our site. Sales are way down and I know the economy is too. Time to stand back and improve everything.

I see that you are using a Volusion site. I'm rather surprised since the site really has an "unfinished" and jumbled look. I'm not even sure what template you are using. The first thing I would do would be a general re-organization and "freshen" up the design. When I click on a main category, I see no keyword rich content on the page and the way you have the template done the subcategories get lost at the top of the page (I had to really look to even see them). I'm not sure why you are showing products on the main category page when you are also redirecting people to a subcategory. Are these "feature" category products? The main thing would be to concentrate on the design and SEO aspects. I do not even see any Alt_Tags on the photos. SEO will drive more traffic to the site and a more organized/professional looking design will keep them there. Send me a message if you would like some help - more than happy to lend a hand.

Actually this is a Prostores site. The chat software is Volusion.

Curious. I was not aware that Volusion offered their Free Chat to anyone but Volusion users.

Another Prostores user told me they did and we installed it. But I'm rarely online to use the chat and actually it was to chat to another PS user. So it's really just for looks. If I could find a better host than Prostores, I'd move. PS is not PCI Compliant. I checked into Volusion but, they won't allow the product line that I sell. It's either Volusion won't allow it or their CC processor won't.

It could be a little more attractive, visually. Thin out the blue bar, and just have your links on it. Put the offer and phone number somewhere else on the page, and don't have the bar be 2tone like it is, or, use an image and a fade. A gradient, I mean. That would look more slick.

I'll try to do the likes and dislikes thing.

Likes:
1) The logo - although could be more appealing - it gets the message accross.
2) Categories - easy to browse and made sense if I was looking for personal/business. I'm not sure how many business would procure off the site - you may also need to work through channels here.
3) Live chat - I like the concept of live chats, but I think it sends the wrong message if you're rarely online and will reduce the likelyhood of someone buying off the site.
4) White background. Although I think the colours need tweaking and fonts -I generally liked the white background.

Dislikes/improvements:
1) The blue bar could be slightly smaller with more navigation off to the side
2) The contact information should be moved out of the middle and use this space for promos or other key messages
3) product pages and detail pages would be great to have the file name representative of the page title to enhance SEO.
4) alt-tags, and other page descriptions and meta-tag descriptions should be optimized including page titles.
5) About us is a little thin. Don't need a book here but some more information on the company, history, mission, value proposition, and differentiators.
