software order fulfillment

i have a booklet that i want to distribute. But i cant figure out how sites allow immediate fulfillment. I have purchase books before and as soon as i put in the card and its processed i get an email with a coded or non coded zip file. I dont know how that process works. can someone stear me in the right direction?

You can do this with almost any shopping cart software. If you want a free solution look at OsCommerce or Zen Cart. I'm not sure about Google Checkout or Pay Pal but you might be able to create an html page and add Pay Pal or Google Checkout buttons and configure them to do the same.

You can call me outdated, but when you just intend to sell a handful of items, nothing goes about a simple HTML form that sends its data to an online payment processor.

Why using a complex e-commerce solution for such simple tasks :-)

I agree with Roban nad Marc, either you can easily sell them through ebay
