I would like to get a complete website hosting company who would have:
ecommerce that has gift certificate option, inventory control, ability to get product and customer information into quickbooks, content management, like for example volusion.com which i like very much. but also i need this to include message board, event listing or calendar, script download as a product after purchased, photo album and most importantly ftp access to the complete site where i can hire my own programmer afterwards to make little changes here and there.
Preferably the site programmed for asp.net
i appreciate your help in helping me find the website or company who can provide all of these ready.
thanks.

Look at Joomla VirtueMart. Joomla is usually offered from hosting companies that use CPanel with Fantastico whch is an automated program installer. My host, Bluehost offers Joomla (free) and you can easily plug in the VirtueMart module which is also free. I have used it in the past and it is a very nice system.

You might check out AspDotNetStorefront (http://www.aspdotnetstorefront.com/). It seems they are compatible with Quickbooks and might have all the features you need.

You can also try HostDepartment.com they offer a good ecommerce solution and provide your choice of either windows (asp) or linux (php) hosting and will set it up for you for free.

well everyone, i looked at all the suggestions and they don't seem to have package deal where shopping cart, message board and event calendar, etc .... it seems they all said it's custom and they can do it. but no demo or any sample site for me to see if they actualy done it.
and i hate to use different company programs to put one together since i have to deal with several people when something goes wrong. not to mention the prices adds up very quickly.

I have used GoDaddy and they offer all of these. But you do realize, I hope, that if you just use a host company's off-the-shelf offering it is probably not going to be something that can grow with you over the long term. Are you just working on a quick project or is this a business you want to grow to be sizeable eventually?

you are right. this is something will grow and besides the site is up and running with at least 10,000 customers currently. but the hosting company that made the site custom will not give us any access to make any little changes through ftp . just an admin site like content management that is restricted to many things. that is why i need a full control over it this time. we are researching in walking away from them. The bad thing about GoDaddy is that I chat with the customer rep and they don't seem to have a demo for me to see. i am willing to give it 2mo - 4mo if they have to do a little customization and testing before taking down the current site.
thanks
