Has anyone out there used a blog (aka Weblog) to successfully market their goods or services? Our intrepid e-commerce entrepreneur Beth Cox addresses the subject here:

I've used blogs to try and promote our website, but in all honesty you have to get people there to read it to make it any use. I would rather spend my time driving traffic directly to the website and not bother with blogs unless you have the time. They are a great source for networking, If you do manage to get people to read your blog, your name came spread like wild fire....but like I said it can be hard to get people to read it.
Good Luck

Weblogs can be extremely effective in marketing. Let me count the ways...
They are free
Content is free
You decide the content
You can build in as many links as you want
You decide the tags for the links.
Google adores weblogs
The news media now uses weblogs as a valid source of information
You can offer an RSS feed of the content
You can place advertising such as Google Adsense, on the pages.
Most weblogs exist in a vacuum, ignored. There are some very important people blogging away without an audience. The trick for success is to keep a weblog within a community, so that all its members see and can comment. That's why I am trying to introduce weblogs into my community.
