Hello friends,

I need to buy an e-commerce hosting package in max 48h. I have for one year no more than 200$.

I want to build and run in good conditions an e-store, a small biz. What e-commerce hosting would you recommend me? I am from Romania, no paypal for me.

I thought of 2checkout as processor which works with oscommerce.

I am open to oscommerce, zencart etc.

An e-commerce hosting which provide all these, many features, reliable, uptime 99%.

How to build a customized e-store based on oscommerce or zencart or so? Custom layout etc?

I humbly thank you.

Best regards,

SacredRomania

Are you looking for hosting, a shopping cart, or a merchant account / electronic payment gateway or IPSP (internet payment service provider)?

If 2CO will support your country, you can use them as your IPSP and then consider which cart will be better for you.

Zencart is better than oscommerce, for security reasons mostly.

osCommerce is very secure if setup properly. Also, freeware and opensource are two very different things. Legally, the difference between freeware and open source is that you do not have access to the source code. Organizationally, this makes a big difference: There is no community and no development infrastructure around "freeware" as there is around open source software. Thus, while you can use freeware "as is," there is no real way to improve upon it or obtain support for it. Most open source software have communities that support each other and collaborate on development. Therefore, unlike freeware, there are future enhancements, and, unlike shareware, users are not dependent on a single organization.

The only thing that concerns me about osCommerce is having to be comfortable with PHP to understand it's workings.

I only know enough PHP to understand some syntax . . . . but ask me to program something ion PHP - and I'm sunk. :(

I'm trying though . . . . I've been watching my Lynda.com "PHP Essential Training" program - still kind of greek to me.

Many web hosting companyes offer what are you looking for.
Also you should try and figure out if you need an SSL certificate(even if you use 2CO). Some customers might not feel so secure giving personal info on an non-secure enviorment.

About the customizing of your Oscommerce or ZenCart shopping cart there are templates for them, or if you have someone who knows to design and code it for you that will be best for creating an unique look&feel.
