I have posted in other threads asking advice about a website I want to create.

I sell a "how to" manual and it does well.

I want to have a website that is generally like this one (my product is not related to spas, I thought this website was simple and what I had in mind to sell my book)

http://www.custombuiltspas.com/index.htm

I plan on having 1-5 products to sell.

I want to enable folks to purchase online via credit cards.

Can I buy simple boilerplate software for this? Are there services that charge monthly fees to do this for me?

I'd appreciate any help that would point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

If you're going to just sell any where from 1 to 5 manuals then I would research Yahoo Stores, ebay or maybe amanzon.com. You want to make sure that you maximize your profits and going online will have a monthly cost. Get someone that provides an all in one package for you.

Elegant,
Thanks for the response.

I am a self-publisher and I choose not to sell my products via Amazon or other booksellers, instead I use advertising in niche publications and direct folks to call a 800 number.

The "all in one package" you refer to is what I am seeking info on.

Can you or anyone else steer me toward information that would enable me to learn about such tools?

Thanks again for the help!

Mel,

I work for a shopping cart developer that specializes in digital delivery and subscription based products. I know most of our competitors offer digital (file) based products, but I'm not sure how many offer the subscription and digital products together. Most of the carts that I know offer both these features are monthly fee based solutions.

The carts you should research:

Volusion-fixed monthly price
Monstercommerce-fixed monthly price
1shoppingcart-fixed monthly price-This one I know offers both subscription and digital product features.
Modular Merchant- fixed monthly fee - We also offer both the subscription and digital delivery features, a full demo is functional on our website. (This is the one I work for, link in signature.)

I agree with the post about Yahoo Stores. If you have a limited selection of product, this would be the easiest route. You can just have people pay through PayPal.
