I have an e-commerce website I am making, I have created a customized shopping cart that gathers all the users information including credit card info and everything. What service out there will take that credit card the total run it and send me a confinmation number? I am having trouble with this step. I don't want to use there lame generic shopping carts, i just need somebody to process the information for me.

Hi Jeff - have you gotten any good replies? Post them if you have!
A Merchant account that provides online transaction processing
is what you need. There are many options - most banks that offer
merchant accounts also offer online transaction processing.
Wells Fargo is one and any of the big banks offers this feature.
Check your merchant account bank website and see what they offer
in online transaction processing. -- Suzanne

Hi Jeff,
I use 2CheckOut (http://www.2checkout.com/cgi-bin/aff.2c?affid=48581) and have my cart pass the routine to their service for credit card data collection.
This saves me a great deal of worry when it comes to credit card data and security.
While my cart saves the customer's data, it does not keep a record of the credit card numbers and I like it this way.

Their service is comparable to what I would pay if I had a merchant account through my bank and without the $1500 setup fee that my bank wants.

hi jeff
i think you can try to use www.ikobo.com (http://www.ikobo.com) .you can apply a merchant account on ikobo and intergrate the shopping cart and cc processing in your wbsite seamless.its transaction fee is lower than 2checkou .although 2 check is a good choice too,but i think that ikobo is a better one!for i have used it about 1 year.and i am very satistied with it.anyway it is my own opinion.to choice which is up to you.

I don't recommend you gather credit card information. It's may be very dangerous. Usually during the shopping session credit card information is passed directly to direct card processor and doesn't stay at selling side.

I believe what he meant is the shopping carts transaction module gathers the information but I might be wrong??

Jeff you have two options for processing credit card transactions online.
one is to go with a non merchant account gateway such as paypal, and the other is to get a merchant account through a processing gateway service.

Whether you are eligible to use the non merchant account option depends on the type of products you'll be selling. If its categorized as a high risk product/service you will not be able to use those types of processing options.

What I would suggest is talking one on one with a processing provider to tailor a solution that's best for your business and for your wallet!

Well, it's pretty much so. Ikobo's not such a bad choice. I use it as well.

I can also vouch for ikobo. We have been using it the last several months and had great success. We had used 2 Check prior to the switch and found it much easier and the lower cost added to the benefit. Best of luck to you.

Yep, pretty much so. Especially since lately they seem to be making some improvements to their service such as MasterCard being accepted again as well as better customer support (ikobo.custhelp.com).
