I' dlike to start my own forum using VBulletin.
Do I need to have my own server?
If not, can I use a free web host? Cause I've read I will need to create databases where everything will be stored. Will a free web host provide me with the ability to create databases?
Or any other information you can give me regarding forums would be welcome.

You won't be able to use a free hosting service, but probably one for pretty cheap (under $20/month). You'll need a package that includes MySQL in order to run the BB software and some minor assistance from your host's tech staff to configure everything. Luckily, the software is free to use.

Try godaddy for the hosting

Most free hosting services don't provide the space to put a forum.

However, here is a way to get free hosting. ;)

Become an affilate for Third Sphere. Get 3 clients, your hosting is free as long as they remain clients. There are also a few other hosting companies where you can create a simliar situation.

Here is a good list to start:

This company offers plug-ins for a few forums. Meaning you click a button or two and wa-la, it's on your site.

Also make sure it is on a *NIX server. *NIX are usually cheaper than Microfost anyway. *NIX just supports PHP / mySQL better and Microsoft supports ASP / .NET much better.
