It's an interesting notion. I don't know offhand what kind of market there is for it, but it's sure a unique idea. The site has a bit of cartoon-ey feel to it, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing for the subject matter. I think if a little more work went into the site's appearance though, you might get more people willing to take the plunge.

By the way I'm sorry I had to edit your signature, but while we will allow members to have a link to their commercial site (that is, after all, what this forum is about ) we don't permit any advertising copy to accompany it. Thanks in advance for understanding.

JP,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the signature didn't realize it was a no no.

I hear you on the cartoony feel. I felt this approach would work because I thought my main customers would be younger and I wanted to keep the site fun.

Is there anything specific that you think I should change?

It might work, as I said I'm not sure that's a bad thing, given the subject matter. I would try to fill the left blue column some more. Looks rather empty and the content isn't centered. The block to the righ has 5 different color texts. Green, red, and 2 blues, plus the main black text. You should as least make the blues match up. Use one blue.

I do like the cartoon feel personally, but it is also somewhat of a risky design. If your target audience is teen girls, for example ages 14 to 18, who want to be alerted when their current favorite heartthrob TV star is on I don't think this design that would be of the most interest to them. Have you figured out yet, what your target audience is?

Vbeal,

Thanks for the comments. What in my design makes it risky? I'm a programmer by day, so pretty unschooled in design philosophy. My guess for the bulk of my audience is probably close to your example 14-24?? I figured the cute dog would be right up the alley for that demographic?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner! I was wondering what your target audience was, simply because that would be the guideline for design. If you think most users would be teens, with a majority of teen girls, you might be better off with a celebrity/people oriented design with bright vibrant colors - basically more exciting and trendy look. If you do wonder about the design though, try a google search for case studies and whitepapers related to teen/young adult marketing strategies.
